I’m a strong believer in diversification, so for single stocks, my view is to keep the trade size (as a proportion of the portfolio size) at 1%, 3%, 5% for punts, normal and highly convicted trades respectively.
For areas that I have less confidence in, due to a lack of specialized sector knowledge (e.g biotech sectors), I would suggest just going via a mutual fund or ETF for those.
Given the above, across sectors/regions, I have been considering or already have exposure to:
– OCBC
– Alibaba
– Samsung Electronics GDR (London listing)
– Micron (US Listing)
– Hongkong Land
– China Construction Bank (HK Listing)
– BP ADR (US listing)
– China Telecom (HK listing)
– SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (US listing)
